How to Grow Your Twitter Followers To A Thousand In Just 1 Month

When I decided to use Twitter as a source of traffic for my blog, one of my biggest question is how can I get or grow followers on twitter.

Did you know that getting followers in Twitter is easier than getting “likes” on Facebook?

In this blog post I’m going to share with you on how I was able to grow my Twitter follower from less than a hundred followers to more than a thousand in just 1 month.

Wherever you are, maybe you are in networking events or in a high school reunion, tell your friends that you are on Twitter. Put your Twitter address on your business cards.

Announce it to your audience when you are doing a public speaking or in any speaking engagement activities.

Put your Twitter address on your email signature. Mention it in interviews or guest post that you might do. Link your Twitter address and link it often. (Connect with Me on Twitter my feed is here)

A lot of people are using to Twitter as a medium – to pitch and pitch and pitch – their products services, and opportunities. Twitter is not a billboard or even a flier. Twitter users are people on not machines. If you will just pitch your business on Twitter then you will be having a hard time growing your Twitter followers.

You must interact with people on Twitter. Every time you reply to someone and have them reply to you, your Twitter ID appears in the feed of others which exposes you to potentially thousand of Twitter users.

Asking and answering questions is perhaps the best way to be conversational on Twitter.

Another thing that I realized is when you are asking question relevant to people’s lives, you get more answers and more followers. The same idea also applies on Facebook. I guess it is human psychology.

Avoid talking to much about yourself such as your success and adventure. People doesn’t care about you unless you show care for them, this also applies on Twitter. Again, Twitter users are people not machines.

People on Twitter would only care about you when they see you as a solution to their problem. So better provide something useful to people such as information, entertainment, news, education, etc.

Know the best time to tweet, it is when lots of people are online on Twitter. For me I found that the best time to tweet is in the morning here in the Philippines therefore it’s early evening in the US were most people are currently online at home or in the office.

Tweeting during this hours increases the chances of someone finding you and adding you as someone to follow.

Here’s one of my tip on how you can increase you following on Twitter. Follow people back when they follow you, and when you follow them back their followers will follow you also.

It’s the principle of the law of reciprocity! The more you give the more you get, so the more you follow the more they will follow you.

Don’t just focus on the number of people who will follow you, but focus on quality. Focus on building relationship, connect genuinely with people on Twitter, and let the rest take care of itself!
