DrFirst Joins the ATLAS iOn Interoperability Network to Enable Lab Test Ordering and Results Review Utilizing Rcopia
Calabasas, Calf. & Rockville, Md (PRWEB) December 07, 2011
Atlas Medical and DrFirst have partnered to allow physicians to order tests and receive reports from any diagnostic testing facility on the Atlas iOn Interoperability Network. Technology from Atlas Medical is now embedded into DrFirst?s Rcopia e-prescribing solutions.
Physicians using Rcopia and Rcopia-MU with the embedded Atlas Medical solution can now access electronic lab and radiology results (a core Meaningful Use requirement), place lab and radiology orders electronically (stage 2 MU for CPOE–computerized physician order entry) and generate requisitions at the time of order entry. In addition, physicians will recognize significant workflow efficiencies during the order entry process with short lists for easy access to most commonly ordered tests and diagnosis codes and custom client profiles categorized by specialty and physician.
?DrFirst is proud to have Atlas Medical as a partner as we continually strive to put the doctor first,? said G. Cameron Deemer, president of DrFirst. ?This partnership allows a doctor to create lab orders and receive lab results in a more efficient manner that allows them quicker access to data. The functionality provided by Atlas fills a void for many providers who are looking to adopt additional IT functionality that will allow them to participate in government incentive programs including HITECH and PQRS.?
Physician practices will experience a greater level of productivity using ATLAS? embedded order entry functionality, enabling the physician or office staff to place orders and view results while the patient is still present. With real-time medical necessity validation, prompt for custom ask-at-order-entry questions and auto printing of requisitions, the physician practice is able to provide a complete, and therefore cleaner, order to the laboratory. This reduces the number of phone calls the lab would otherwise place back to the physician office to complete missing order information, and provides an added level of patient safety by including the printed requisition with the collected specimens before the lab receives the order.
?ATLAS is pleased to be working with DrFirst, providing a combined solution that offers physicians the tools to demonstrate ?meaningful use? for CPOE and electronic result retrieval,? stated Robert Gregory, Chief Business Officer for Atlas. ?This relationship also provides the physician with quick and efficient access to laboratory and other diagnostic testing services, allowing DrFirst?s customers to leverage the ATLAS national diagnostics network.?
